I recently got married to my high-school sweetheart. It’s a long story that went on for 10 years (a soap opera in the making) before we took the plunge. Things have inevitably changed. Here are some personal insights and experiences for the newly engaged or newly wed couples.

Change in Status:
Changing my status to ‘Married’ immediately reduced the number of hits on my page on ‘My Space’ and on my blog. Guys weren’t interested in me anymore. The only people who left me messages were women, kids or married guys. It’s an overnight phenomenon. I suddenly felt that I had crossed over to another generation. And I have.

FingeRING:
People around me expect me ring finger to be “fully-armed”. My wedding ring is a weapon in itself. It takes me away from the single life that I had once known. Now, I am expected to do “couple” things even though my husband and I think otherwise.

Sex-ing it up:
This is the best. We don’t need to be that careful anymore. It’s okay to slip up and just have a wild time. Anywhere. Anytime. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrowl!

What happened to romance:
If nothing else, our RQ (romantic quotient) has increased. We cook together, clean up after each other, and have pillow fights, cuddling sessions, some more fights and lots of make-up sex.

Expect Change: Change is inevitable once you get married, especially if you weren’t living together before. .
